'거듭 집중하고, 다시 모이고, 당신의 내면에 빠져드세요'. 디자이너와 브랜드의 창조적인 에너지가 한데 모이는 메종&오브제 파리가 2023년 1월 19일부터 23일까지 서로와 지구를 돌보는 디자인에 집중한 전시를 개최한다. 현재 전 세계적으로 일어나고 있는 사회·경제·정치적인 격변은 인간이 자기 신념과 소신을 즉각적인 행동으로 나타낼 수 있는 시대적 분위기를 만들었다. 이에 브랜드는 더욱 투명하고 포용성 있는 디자인으로 현대의 '아름다움'을 정의하고, '옳은 것'을 표방하는 미(美)의 새로운 기준을 제시했다. 이번 메종&오브제의 타이틀 '케어(Care)'는 적극적으로 삶의 의미를 되돌아보고 진정한 평온을 찾기 위해 노력하는 현대인을 위한 테마로 꾸며진다. 내면을 강화하는 모든 것을 조명하고 우리 삶에 활기를 불어넣는 감각적인 디자인들을 선보일 예정이다.

The aim of this project was to create a display furniture for jewelry brand BIIS. Developed in a contemporary language, the tables are designed to enhance the quirky little pieces. As with the brand, they are not trendy, not chic and not flashy; they are edgy yet restrained.

PATIO BENCH
파티오 벤치(Patio bench)는 사용자의 욕구에 따라 다양한 방식으로 구성하고 배치할 수 있다. 공간적 다기능성을 향상하는 디자인은 에레라(Herrera)의 기하학적 언어를 통해 주체와 사물의 시각적 관계를 구체화한다. 금속 튜브, 나무, 유리, 화강암, 강철 등 다양한 산업재료를 실험해 탄생한 가구다.

장인들의 블로잉 기법으로 제작한 유리 컬렉션 미러 글라스(Mirror Glasses)는 윗부분과 바닥이 대칭을 이루며 자체적으로 반사된 빛을 내뿜는다. 하단의 불투명 유리 장식을 교체할 수 있어 재미있는 조합으로 구성할 수 있다.

A collection of 20 unique mouth blown Borosilicate glasses where the top part of each one has his symmetric on the bottom, its own reflection. By exchanging one part of it with another glass, you can have different combinations, so the reflection of one can be the reflection of all the others.

마르타 아르멩골(Marta Armengol)은 스페인 바르셀로나 건축학교(Barcelona School of Architecture)에
서 디자인을 공부했다. 건축가이자 디자이너로 활동하며 무대미술과 설치품에 이르기까지 장인정신의 경계를 넘나드는 다양한 디자인을 선보여왔다. 유리를 중심으로 다양한 소재를 혼합한 작품들은 관념적인 측면에 집중하며, 시적인 분위기를 자아낸다. 소재를 실험해 특이한 형태와 질감을 추출하는 디자인은 빛과 일상적인 오브제에 대한 창의적인 접근방식으로 평가받고 있다.

An architect by training and an artist by vocation, Marta Armengol dares with everything: installations that resemble architecture and everyday objects that are reminiscent of sculptures. She is immersed in a deep process of experimentation with glass, with which she creates beautiful pieces that do not always end up being what she had in mind. And she does everything from Mallorca, inspired by her intoxicating landscape and surrounded by a creative environment.

메종&오브제 파리 라이징 탤런드 어워드 크래프트의 수상자 조셉 사폰트는 1990년도 까스뗄욘(Castellón)에서 태어나 마싸나 학교(Massana school)에서 디자인을 공부했다. 2020년 바르셀로나에 자신의 스튜디오를 설립한 뒤 비전이 담긴 텍스타일 아트 컬렉션을 선보여왔다. 그의 작업실에는 텍스타일의 제작을 위한 직조기가 있으며, 검은색 잉크 자수, 실, 면과 펠트 조각이 놓여있다. 볼륨, 레이아웃 등 작품에 대한 실험을 구체화하여 창조한 직물은 자연적인 소재와 독특한 수공예 기법에 포커스를 둔다.

전시에 출품하기 위해 제작한 디자이너의 두 번째 작품, 쿠차라 로사(Cuchara Rosa)는 조각과 회전을 통해 구현한 심플한 라인이 돋보이는 스푼이다. 염색한 자작나무 베이스 위에 놓인 긴 손잡이 오브제가 매력적이며 핑크, 블루 등 은은하게 컬러를 가미한 디자인으로 시선을 사로잡는다.
